The Official Patient's Sourcebook on Food Allergies: A Revised and Updated Directory for the Internet Age

The Official Patient's Sourcebook on Food Allergies: A Revised and Updated Directory for the Internet Age Review

This book has been created for patients who have decided to make education and research an integral part of the treatment process. Although it also gives information useful to doctors, caregivers and other health professionals, it tells patients where and how to look for information covering virtually all topics related to food allergies (also allergic bowel disease; dietary protein sensitivity syndrome; food allergy; food hypersensitivity), from the essentials to the most advanced areas of research. The title of this book includes the word official. This reflects the fact that the sourcebook draws from public, academic, government, and peer-reviewed research. Selected readings from various agencies are reproduced to give you some of the latest official information available to date on food allergies. Given patients' increasing sophistication in using the Internet, abundant references to reliable Internet-based resources are provided throughout this sourcebook. Where possible, guidance is provided on how to obtain free-of-charge, primary research results as well as more detailed information via the Internet. E-book and electronic versions of this sourcebook are fully interactive with each of the Internet sites mentioned (clicking on a hyperlink automatically opens your browser to the site indicated). Hard-copy users of this sourcebook can type cited Web addresses directly into their browsers to obtain access to the corresponding sites. In addition to extensive references accessible via the Internet, chapters include glossaries of technical or uncommon terms.

Autism is an epidemic: It has spiked 1,500 percent in the last twenty years. ADHD, asthma and allergies have also skyrocketed over the same time period. One of these conditions now strikes one in every three children in America. But there is hope. Leading medical innovator Kenneth Bock, M.D., has helped change the lives of more than a thousand children, and in this important book, with a comprehensive program that targets all four of the 4-A disorders, he offers help to children everywhere. This is the book that finally puts hope within reach.

Doctors have generally overlooked the connections among the 4-A disorders, despite their concurrent rise and the presence of many medical clues. For years the medical establishment has considered autism medically untreatable and utterly incurable, and has limited ADHD treatment mainly to symptom suppression. Dr. Bock and his colleagues, however, have discovered a solution – one that goes to the root of the problem. They have found that deadly modern toxins, nutritional deficiencies, metabolic imbalances, genetic vulnerabilities and assaults on the immune and gastrointestinal systems trigger most of the symptoms of the 4-A disorders, resulting in frequent misdiagnosis and untold misery.

Dr. Bock’s remarkable Healing Program, drawing on medical research and based on years of clinical success, offers a safe, sensible solution that is individualized to each child to help remedy these root causes. The biomedical approach to autism, ADHD, and the other 4-A epidemics, as innovated by Dr. Bock and some of America’s finest integrative physicians, is one of the most promising and exciting medical movements of our time.

In this eminently readable account, written by Dr. Bock in collaboration with critically acclaimed author Cameron Stauth, you will meet children and parents whose dramatic stories will inspire you to change the life of your own child. This program may be the help that you have been praying for.

The 2011 Report on Allergy Drugs: World Market Segmentation by City

The 2011 Report on Allergy Drugs: World Market Segmentation by City Review

This report was created for global strategic planners who cannot be content with traditional methods of segmenting world markets. With the advent of a "borderless world", cities become a more important criteria in prioritizing markets, as opposed to regions, continents, or countries. This report covers the top 2000 cities in over 200 countries. It does so by reporting the estimated market size (in terms of latent demand) for each major city of the world. It then ranks these cities and reports them in terms of their size as a percent of the country where they are located, their geographic region (e.g. Africa, Asia, Europe, Middle East, North America, Latin America), and the total world market.

In performing various economic analyses for its clients, I have been occasionally asked to investigate the market potential for various products and services across cities. The purpose of the studies is to understand the density of demand within a country and the extent to which a city might be used as a point of distribution within its region. From an economic perspective, however, a city does not represent a population within rigid geographical boundaries. To an economist or strategic planner, a city represents an area of dominant influence over markets in adjacent areas. This influence varies from one industry to another, but also from one period of time to another.

In what follows, I summarize the economic potential for the world's major cities for "allergy drugs" for the year 2011. The goal of this report is to report my findings on the real economic potential, or what an economist calls the latent demand, represented by a city when defined as an area of dominant influence. The reader needs to realize that latent demand may or may not represent real sales.

DJ's Allergies

DJ's Allergies Review

Meet DJ. There is something special about him, he has food allergies. "DJ s Allergies" is a book that explains allergies to children of all ages in a way that they can understand. Children with food allergies need to gain understanding as young as possible. Most children with food allergies will have to deal with them for the rest of their lives, so the younger they understand the better. Food is something that is present everywhere and all the time. Family, friends, even strangers feel the need to offer children food. This is a nightmare for the parent of a child with food allergies. To constantly have to say no at birthday parties, play groups, school, anywhere that food is offered really is tough when the child doesn t grasp the concept. "DJ s Allergies" explains to children of all ages how serious allergies are.

Allergic Reactions to Anaesthetics: Clinical and Basic Aspects (Monographs in Allergy)

Allergic Reactions to Anaesthetics: Clinical and Basic Aspects (Monographs in Allergy) Review

This interdisciplinary volume covers a wide spectrum of topics associated with the largely life-threatening reactions which may occur during general anaesthesia. Focus is placed on anaphylactic/anaphylactoid reactions and anaesthesia-related liver disease. Leading international authorities discuss the epidemiology, clinical aspects and therapy of these reactions as well as their possible prevention by new screening tests. Special attention is given to the immunological mechanisms which underlie allergic reactions and the possible contribution of nonimmune mechanisms. Both the clinical and the experimentally-based findings are analyzed with the aim of establishing links between them. In addition, the book addresses important issues in treatment, covers areas which are ill-defined or not generally known, and tackles controversial questions including discussion of medico-legal and economic issues.

Vaccines against Allergies (Current Topics in Microbiology and Immunology)

Vaccines against Allergies (Current Topics in Microbiology and Immunology) Review

We are celebrating this year the hundred years´ anniversary of allergen-specific immunotherapy. In 1911 Leonard Noon published his seminal work “Prophylactic inoculation against hay fever” describing his attempts to achieve active immunity against “grass pollen toxin” by administering increasing doses of grass pollen extract before the grass pollen season to allergic patients. Although it was unknown at that time that allergy represents an immunological hypersensitivity disease, the treatment was effective and many observations made by Noon remained valid until today. Today allergen-specific immunotherapy is well established as the only allergen-specific and disease-modifying treatment for IgE-mediated allergies and has long-lasting effects. In fact, more than 25% of the population suffer from IgE-mediated allergies which therefore represent a major health burden of our society, particularly because untreated allergy often progresses to severe disabling forms of disease, such as asthma and sometimes kills sensitized people through anaphylaxis.
